1931 - 2015

Dean Crittenden Roberts died May 29, 2015.  He was born December 3, 1931 in Salt Lake City, UT.  He was the 7 th of 10 children born to David & Mary Roberts.  He is survived by his wife Kay Louise and his 5 children: David (Carey), Anthony (Deborah), Melinda (Clint) Warren, Kimbra Nate, Jeffrey (Amy), 16 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren.

Dean spent his youth in SLC, UT, Pocatello, ID and Ogden, UT.  He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in accounting.  He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  He was an adjuster and Agent for Farmers Insurance for 25 years.

He married Marion Robb and had three children, later divorced.  He then married his loving, beautiful, devoted wife Kay and they spent the last forty years living life to the fullest.

Dean had an incredible love for the outdoors.  He enjoyed tennis, water skiing, motorcycle racing, and Alpine Skiing.  He had a passion for teaching people the art of skiing and received many prestigious ski awards including the Professional Ski Instructors of America Hall of Fame.

Dean started working at Solitude Ski Resort in 1956 and devoted his life to the resort in every aspect, which included owning and operating the ski school.  His knowledge and experiences in the canyon made him a well-known historian of Big Cottonwood.  He was one of the kindest, loving, most generous people; he was someone you would have been privileged to call friend.

Viewing to be held Wed June 3rd from 6-8pm at the LDS church in Brighton Circle, Big Cottonwood Canyon.  Funeral services will be held Thurs June 4 th 11am at the LDS Brighton Chapel.  Prior to funeral services, a viewing will be held from 10-10:45.  A celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced.  Anyone interested in attending please email at DCRcelebration@gmail.com .
