Dale Marvin Sorensen passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Dale was born June 23, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alton Harry Sorensen Jr. and Betty Alice McFarlane.
After graduating from Skyline High School in 1971, Dale served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Hong Kong from 1973 to 1975. He grew to love all things associated with the Chinese culture and people. Dale learned to cook the food there, and when he came home, started a Chinese catering business. He was very successful with this and brought joy to many people with his delicious food. He continued to love the Chinese culture throughout his life.
He was active in the Church all of his life. His years of scouting as a youth created a lifelong love of the outdoors. He spent two summers working on the camp staff at both Bear Lake and East Fork of the Bear Boy Scout camps. Dale enjoyed serving others including as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the bishopric, choir director, and youth leader.
Dale developed a love of music early in his life, having been exposed to different types of music by his mother. He was a very accomplished vocalist with a beautiful tenor voice. Dale sang in many choirs in high school, college and the community including 15 years with Utah Chamber Artists.
Dale was a surgery computer technician at LDS Hospital and Primary Children’s Hospital, a partner with Service West Electronics Repair, and he was a serious audiophile, becoming an audio engineer later in life.
Dale was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many people. He will be remembered as kind, intelligent, curious, musical, well-read, a great conversationalist, a good friend, a good leader and advocate, and having a sharp memory to the end. He will be sorely missed.
Dale is survived by his siblings; Roger (Rebecca), Cheryl Whitehead (Randy), Clark (Bob), Gordon (Adrianne), and many adoring nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents.
