Beverley May Anderson Elder
1935-2018
Beverley May Anderson Elder, age 82, passed away Sunday morning, March 18, 2018 at her home in West Jordan UT.
She was born May 9, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT, daughter of Kenneth Howarth Smith and Myrtle Sarah Jorgensen – step father William Johnson. She was raised in Spanish Fork UT and graduated from Spanish Fork High School where she was involved in as many activities and clubs that the school had to offer a very lovely young lady with many interests and talents.
She married Ralph Anderson on July 10th 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Ralph and Beverley had 6 children – Collette (still born), Lynette, Ralph Jr, Kenneth, Yvonne, and JaNean. She supported her Husband’s academics which took her from BYU to UC Berkeley where Ralph received his PHD.
They lived and raised their family in San Jose California where Beverley worked for the first Challenger School before moving the family to Utah. Upon the death of her Husband and after opening Utah’s 1st Challenger School she opened her own Pre-School where she devoted her talents and time to young children for over 25yrs all the while raising her family.
Beverley later married Ronald Elder, immediately tripling the size of her family. She loved the Elders and they have loved her dearly. She was blessed to serve an LDS service mission with Ron in Shiprock NM. She always remained the perfect example of faith in the atonement of her Savior Jesus Christ. Beverley served in many church callings faithfully during her life.
She enjoyed learning, reading, teaching, camping, fishing,gardening, playing the organ, crocheting, and being with her family.
She is survived by her Son Ralph Anderson, Salt Lake City, Kenneth (Christine) Anderson, Bluffdale, Yvonne (Christopher) Flitton, West Jordan, JaNean (Eric) Maxfield, Draper. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister Deloris Nelson, brother Richard Johnson; she was preceded in death by her Husband Ralph Anderson, Daughter Collette Anderson, Brother LaMar Johnson, Daughter Lynette Stryker, Son in Law Phil Stryker, Husband Ronald Elder, Her Father and Mother and Step Father.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Sat Mar. 24, 2018 at the LDS Jordan Oaks 1st Ward Chapel, 8117 South Leslie Drive West Jordan, UT. Viewings will be Fri. 6-8 p.m. same location and Sat. 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of Riverton IHC and IMED hospitals and with gratitude a very heartfelt thank you to Mona and Pesi for their loving service to our Mom these past years.
