1930 – 2018

Rose Bernice Blunck Smith passed away peacefully on January 2, 2018 at the age of 87.  She was born July 24, 1930 to George Henry Blunck and Rosa Mary Schwaar Blunck.  She grew up in the Salt Lake area and graduated from East High School.  She excelled in school and was a good typist.  She worked as a secretary for the Freed Motor Company.  One of her favorite holidays was the 24th of July since it was also her birthday.  The family would start the day by going to the parade.  They would have a picnic in the backyard and then walk over to Liberty Park for the fireworks.  She married Roy Burrell Smith on May 14, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Roy passed away July 11, 2011.  They are the parents of four children.  Bernice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served as Sunday School Secretary, Relief Society President, visiting teacher and many years as a member of the compassionate service committee.  She loved to cook and bake special treats.  Roy and Bernice served a family history mission together.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis Smith (Pauline); Gregg Smith (Julie); two daughters, Lori Anderson (Larry) and Cherylanne Smith; sister, Marilyn Gilbert (Earl); 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus 8th Ward, 2675 East 4430 South.  A visitation will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Olympus 8th Ward from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service from 10-10:45 a.m.  Interment Larkins Sunset Gardens.
