Belva Salmon

August 23, 1929 — May 27, 2022

Funeral Recording

Belva Lou Byard Salmon, our dear beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend passed away peacefully in her home where she has lived for 71 years on May 27, 2022.  Mom was born in Payson, Utah August 23, 1929 to Clarence Byard and Ada Johnson Byard.  She lived in Santiquin, Utah, Pasadena, California and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mom graduated from South High in 1947 where she met her soon to be husband, George Gilbert Salmon after he returned from serving in the Navy in the Pacific during WWll.  They were married Sept 10, 1949.  She was later sealed to Dad in September of 1998.  They had 2 beautiful children, Kevin and Karen.

She worked at First Security Bank, Petty Ford, Colonial Ford and Rick Warner Ford where she retired as the Office Manager.  She loved the people she worked with and they loved her. She taught her family to work hard and do your best work.

She loved her home and the people in her neighborhood.  She loved to garden and to keep her house spotless.  She was and will continue to be a person filled with gratitude.  She was a friend to everybody who crossed her path.

Her family was everything to her.  She was often heard saying, “I wish everyone had a family like mine.”  We are convinced that everyone would have a family like hers, if they had a mother like ours.  She appreciated sunsets, the mountains, her little home and everything simple in life.  She wanted little and appreciated all. She followed Christ by the way she lived her life and in the service she rendered to family and friends. She crocheted hundreds of blankets and afghans that she donated to hospitals and care centers. She was generous in her offerings as she couldn’t stand the idea of someone in need.

Belva was preceded in death by her husband, George Gilbert Salmon, Mother, Ada Byard, Father Clarence Byard and Brother Rex Byard.  She is survived by her son, Kevin, (Lois Facer Salmon) and daughter, Karen Helen Quigley (Bill Quigley) 7 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, spend time with your family, be kind and generous to those around you as our dear mother was in life.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in the Parleys 4th Ward building, 1870 East Parleys Canyon Blvd at 11:30 am.  Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am prior to the services.
