Amy Jean Roberts

Jul 25, 1962 — Sep 13, 2026

On September 13th Amy passed away suddenly following a brief undetected medical event. There are no right words for something this sudden, she will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Amy was born near Port Austin Michigan in 1961 to Conrad and Jean Roberts who were both actors and a very strong influence in her career. She moved to Moab Utah in 1972 with her parents and three sisters where her father passed away young shortly after.

Amy later moved to Salt Lake City as a remarkably attractive young woman and at one point was third runner up for Miss Utah.

Amy’s professional career in Costume Designer and Costumer for stage, TV and Movies began in the nineteen nineties and spanned over 3 decades with over 60 Movies and TV production credited to her name including more than a dozen major motion pictures. She was much admired in her career as her passion for the outfits she created showed her incredible skills in her deep understanding of color psychology and strategic use of fabric and texture. She was a stickler for accuracy details and continuity, always carrying around strings of polaroids to ensure correct costumes throughout a shoot. She had a perfect ability to build costumes that revealed the character’s occupation and social status and even maybe their mental state. Her work encompassed her entire life where she would constantly be acquiring new items to add to her substantial backstock of wardrobe items for use in the movies that took up an entire room. She instinctively knew that her costumes would help the performers transforms themselves into the role they were playing. Amy showed everyone you could be ruthlessly passionate about your work and still be a kind person to everyone she knew. She also gave many people the skills they needed to build their careers and are still working to this day.

Amy met the undisputed love of her life, Mike on a blind date in the fall of 1999, loved him with all her heart and were glued together in life through their love and married October 4rth 2025. She was also very fond of Logan, Mike’s daughter.

Amy is survived by her husband Mike Law and her three sisters Karen Jo Roberts of Las Vegas, Nevada, Christine Lynn Abernethy of Salt Lake, Gretchen Ann Roberts of Ashland, Oregon and of course Gustavio , her dog, the other love of her life.

Condolences may be sent to Mike Law (mikelaw64@gmail.com) A service announcement will come later.
