1925 - 2013

ALLEN STANLEY ANDERSON, age 88, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, died peacefully on March 6, 2013, at his home. Born March 1, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of Roscoe Stanley Anderson and Ethel Mary Allen. He married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Mary Kunkel, September 27, 1946 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed away on November 27, 2008. Allen proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He was a flight engineer on a B25 Bomber, in North Africa, China, Burma, and India. He was a patriotic and proud American. A loyal employee of the Salt Lake City Water Department for 43 years, he worked as their Fleet Supervisor, He served several years as president of the Water Department Credit Union. Allen was active in scouting for over 20 years, blessing the lives of many young men. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in numerous ward and stake callings, including years as a loving bishop. He worked for 18 years in the baptistry of the Jordan River Temple. He knew the importance of hard work and commitment, and was an accomplished handyman, repairman, and mechanic. He spent his entire life beautifying his surroundings and helping others. He was loved and respected by his many friends and family, and he was frequently sought out for counsel and advice. Allen is survived by his 2 children; son Mark (Georgia) and daughter Nancy Page (Brent), Grandchildren Meighan Smith (Chris), Sarah Whiting (Clint), Benjamin Page (Jamaica), Jacob Anderson (Kasey), Amy Jorgensen (Michael), Jared Anderson, Ann Odem (Ryan) James Marshall, Sarah Hansen (Max) Elder Isaac Marshall, 9 great grandchildren, and sister in law, Kathryn Kunkel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley View II Ward, 4395 Albright Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd (7600 So) on Sunday, March 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 and one hour prior at the place of service. Internment, Elysian Burial Gardens, Holladay, Utah.
