Alice Jorgensen Hansen

Alice Jorgensen Hansen, aged 86, passed away on June 5, 2024 surrounded by her beloved boys. Alice was born in Salt Lake City on July 9, 1937 to John and Oda Jorgensen. She grew up in East Mill Creek with her loving family. She attended South High School and it was there that she met her partner for eternity, Gary E. Hansen. They were married on March 24, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple and soon decided to start their family. They welcomed five sons and enjoyed many wonderful years of sports, camping, and family fun. Alice was truly the heart of the family and cared for them with unconditional love and was the perfect example of womanhood for her boys to hope to find for themselves (which they did).
Alice was active in many church callings and civic service. She was an exemplary leader in Scouting for over 17 years. She discovered her passion in extracting names from Scandinavian parish records for input into Genealogical records. She was honored to preserve the legacy of millions of individuals. She did this for over 35 years. She served a church mission to West Malaysia with her husband in 2004 to 2006. They travelled extensively all over the world.
She was a good friend and brought love and service wherever she went and was someone you wanted to know and to be around. Her home and her table were always open to all.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings Eleanor Brewster, Frank Jorgensen, Helen Henriksen, a Granddaughter Tess, and a Great-grandson Teddy. She is survived by her husband, Gary, and sons Brent (Jill), Russ (Ann), Steve (Michelle), Keith (Michele), and Neal (Lisa) as well as 12 Grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren and a brother, John Jorgensen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 2301 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South), Cottonwood Heights at 1:00 p.m. A viewing will be held at the church Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Mountain View cemetery.
