TERRY EUGENE TALBOT
1945 ~ 2019
Terry Eugene Talbot, 73, dearest loved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend, peacefully passed away January 4, 2019 surrounded by his family, at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Terry was born December 3, 1945, the oldest of four sons, born to Eugene LeRoy and Margaret Ann Hocking Talbot, in Ogden, Utah. The family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes, when Terry was four years old. He grew up camping, fishing, boating, and swimming in those beautiful lakes, developing his great love of fishing and all things in nature. Terry was a lifelong, devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served in many capacities in the Church, from Bishoprics, to Scouting, and was an amazing Priesthood Quorum and Sunday School teacher. Terry loved missionary work, serving two full time missions, first to Ireland as a young man and later as a Senior Missionary with his beloved wife Bonnie in the Oregon Eugene Mission, where the fire of his testimony and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ, endeared him to all who were blessed by his missionary service. Prior to leaving on his mission, Terry was honored to serve as an ordinance worker for 6 years in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Temple work and family history have become his passion. Terry served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam conflict, monitoring reconnaissance maneuvers in Diyarbakir, Turkey. Terry was a master gardener, happily sharing the fruits of his labors with family and neighbors. He loved classical music and played the French horn in the orchestra at the University of Utah, where he graduated with a degree in biology. Terry was a well respected broker & health underwriter, serving a term as president of the UAHU. He was an avid camper and had a passion for all of nature and the outdoors. He was an expert fisherman, published in multiple fishing guides, past editor of Utah Trout Unlimited, and told fishing stories with the best of them! He had the greatest sense of humor, always ready with a joke and a smile. He was known for his love and devotion to his family, and all who were blessed to call him friend.
Terry and his sweetheart Bonnie Lee Fillmore were married February 14, 1972. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; children – Kurt, Jennifer (Paul), James (Charmaine), Michael (Stephanie), Tammy, and Joseph (Ann); 15 grandchildren – Nate, Hailee, Kaitlin, Ian, Jonathan, Skyler, Amanda, Emily, Saige, Alex, Sean, Josh, Jake, Flint, and James; brothers – Frank (Mary), and Randy (Lisa). Beloved husband, wise and compassionate father, tenderhearted adoring grandpa/Pops, nothing was more important to Terry than his family.
