Rulon was husband, father, friend and trusted business partner. He was born during the great depression and had to learn to work and hustle to eat. Rulon met his to be wife Donna Maxfield at Jordan High school during WWII. Both grew up poor, hard working farmers, they wanted more. After they married it was off to Idaho to make his way in sales at the local sporting-goods store. Rulon had many professions, always the salesman. He sold insurance, then worked in the finance business, then professional leasing, computer processing, land development, oil field service and cleaning, water proofing and restoration, and his favorite passion gold mining.
Rulon was a skilled pilot owning several aircraft throughout his life. A boater, water skier, snowmobiler, snow skier, camper and the world’s best fly fisherman. He taught his family the wonders of the great outdoors. Every week the family would go boating, camping, skiing, hunting, or shooting. No little league or soccer camps for the kids. It was house boating on Lake Powell, snow skiing at Alta or Fishing on the Warm River in Idaho.
He taught his family how to give, share what we had, and work hard for what we get. To be thankful for what you have and those that helped you. To be proud of who you are and where you come from. Respect your elders, be polite, be honest in all you do, and make someone laugh every day. Kindness and generosity are Rulon’s legacy. Thank you for being a good husband, father, & friend.
Until we meet again, stay in the buggy you handsome old dog!
