Donna Cynthia (Maxfield) Dahl passed away peacefully on July 4, 2019.  Donna was born September 20, 1930 in Midvale UT. to LaVera and Ellis Maxfield.  Donna follows her husband of 70 years, Rulon into the afterlife by 18 days.  She is survived by their 4 Children Paula “Sue” (Dahl) Knight, San Diego CA.  Carolyn (Dahl) Mather, Layton UT. Mark Dahl, Riverton UT. and Scot Dahl, Mission Viejo CA.  17 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 10, 2019 at the Cottonwood 5th Ward, 5913 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City UT.  A visitation will be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) Cottonwood Heights UT. on Tuesday July 9, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM and at the church one hour prior to services.

Donna was raised on a working farm with two brothers and two sisters.  Her family had no indoor plumbing until well into her teen years.  Donna and her brother Linden milked cows by hand before and after their one-mile walk to school.  She also did typical farm chores of feeding the livestock, pigs, chickens, and thrashing the wheat at harvest time.  Every fall as the families hunting tags were filled, she would volunteer to skin all the deer and elk so she could have the hides to tan.  She enjoyed ice skating on the neighbor’s ice pond and sleigh-riding behind the horse.  Growing up she loved anything to do with horses.

She married Rulon Dahl at the age of 18 on November 26, 1948, some 70 years ago.  They moved to Idaho Falls, ID. then returned to East Midvale, UT. a few years later.  Finally moving to their long-time home in what now is called Holladay, UT on 6200 South in 1957 where they raised their 4 children.

Donna had many accomplishments through out her life.  Once she had it in her head to do something there was nothing that would stop her.  She has her private pilot license, real estate license, served in the State Legislature, was the Director of the Utah State Fair, and trusted business partner of Rulon’s many different business ventures.  She served as Hostess at the Church Office Building, Vice Chair of the State Republican Party, served on the Republican State Central Committee, was President of the Salt Lake Women’s Republican Club, President of the Freedom Foundation of Valley Forge as well as serving on their Board for many years. Served as a member of the Industrial Commission Advisory Council, Member of the National Advisory Council to the US Secretary of Agriculture.  Served as a Member of the local Selective Service Board and even had lunch at the White House with President Reagan.

She was active in her Church teaching all primary grades, all MIA grades, served as Primary President, Young Women’s President, Stake Mutual President, Relief Society Secretary and Councilor.  She taught the Gospel Doctrine class in her ward for many years.  Her favorite church calling was serving many, many hours, mostly on horse-back, at the Stake Welfare Cattle Ranch.

Donna and Rulon loved the outdoors.  Their favorite thing was to get away to the mountains to fly fish a small stream or lake.  She followed Rulon her long-time fishing partner to the heavens where she will be welcome and be told that her time here was well spent and her work her was well done.
