Ada Nielson

Ada Kay Neuenswander Nielson
September 24, 1935 – March 2, 2019

Kathryn (the name she wanted everyone to call her) was one of six children born to Lorenzo and Maryann Neuenswander. Kathryn is survived by three sisters and one brother , Golda (Glenn Olson) Lesetta (Gene Coleman), Curtis (Charlene) Neuenswander, and Carelin (Tony Jensen). Her oldest brother, Lynn (Bonnie Dee) Neuenswander preceded her in death.

Kathryn was born in her parents’ farmhouse in Westin, Idaho. She grew up helping her father on the farm and developed a strong work ethic. After graduating high school, she went to BYU where she met and married (within three months) the love of her life, Larry Nielson (preceded her in death) on December 18, 1952. They had five children, Debbie (preceded her in death - Bob Johnson), Larry J. (Susan) Nielson, Brian (Kari) Nielson, Peggy (Scott Fisher), and Tammy (Ronald Spratling). She loved and cherished everyone of her 5 children, 20 grandchildren, (one preceded her in death) 6 great grandchildren, 5 grand dogs and 3 great grand dogs. She often said that each had a special spot in her heart and would drop whatever she was doing to spend a special moment with them, as she seemed to sense when she was needed.

She was dedicated to the lord and the church, serving in many leadership capacities; including Primary President, Relief Society President and Director of the Young Marrieds.

She was a superwoman; Besides raising a family and managing a household, she owned and ran a pre-school, sold bulk food for home storage, and sold Avon. She worked beside her children, kneeling in the mud, picking strawberries to instill her work ethic in them. Katherine sold real estate (was a Million Dollar Club recipient many years in a row) and owned and ran a flower shop with her daughter. She truly loved her flower store and in the last few years of her life, so enjoyed going there everyday, working with her daughter and son and meeting and talking to all her friends and customers who would visit her quite regularly.

Kathryn lived life on her own terms. She was kind and gentle, stubborn and opinionated, joyful and happy, and wacky and wonderful!

A celebration of her life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 5913 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84121 Saturday March 9th, 2019 at 1 P.M.
