Robert Covey Beers
August 10, 1935- July 24, 2017

Sailing off into the sunset goes our Dad and proud Captain Bob Beers. Amazing  husband, father, grandpa, brother and all around great guy.  There was never another man more  powerful in the spirit than our Dad.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City to William Leonard (Bevo) Beers and Dorothy Covey Beers, in the Garden Park Ward area.

Participating in the East High School football, baseball and basketball teams as well as being crowned AB of E at East High School.  Dad was known as the “Fastest Man on Two Feet at East High School”, from his short stop baseball performances.  He kept his nick name up with his wicked whit and quick thinking.

Dad served an LDS mission in the British, England Mission where he had much success.  After his mission, it was on to the University of Utah and Sigma Chi where he earned his BS in Journalism.

Dad was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Gerrie Cowan and later divorced.  He was married in the Salt Lake Temple again to Kay Carroll.  Kay and Dad have had a love affair ever since.

Professionally,  dad was a member of Salt Lake Board of Realtors and later became a Broker which he maintained licensure until the time of his death.  He loved selling Real Estate, interacting with all he knew and maintaining relationships forever.  Once you were dad’s friend, you were his friend for life.  Dad was invested in his friendships from childhood and met with the “Good Group” –friends from the Garden Park Ward- for more than 60 years.

Dad’s hobbies included anything University of Utah, golf, tennis, fishing and anything his children were up to.  If he wasn’t trying to track you down and find out what you were doing, he was trying to track you down and give you his testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Dad had most of all a strong conviction of our Heavenly Father.  He shared this whenever he could.  Home Teaching was his passion, and his favorite calling in the Church.  Humble in spirit and personage, he was always up to the task.  A fisher of men and a Captain of his ship.  Happy  Sailing Dad.  Until we meet again.  God has work for you to do.

Preceded  in death by his parents and son Nathan.  Survived by his wife Kay, children, Erik, Shawn (Cindy), Rebecca (Nelson), Natalie (Glenn), Bob , Heather (Greg), Brandon (Andrea) and 22 grandchildren.
