1932-2017

Gwen Goodrich Hollingworth returned home to her Heavenly Father and the many who gathered to welcome her on May 25, 2017 at the age of 84.

She was born to Maude Woolley and Earl Byron Goodrich of Vernal Utah on December 14, 1932. She was married to Graham Davis Hollingworth

Gwen was an accomplished musician.  She played organ in church for many years and also played and taught piano.  Possessing a beautiful soprano voice, she shared it with many by singing in choirs and at many other gatherings, she clearly loved music.  Often, her children would come home from school to hear classical music playing on the radio.

She was a consummate housemaker, working hard, with a limited budget, to feed her children delicious, nutritional food.  She sewed clothing for her children, including special pajamas for Christmas and beautiful dresses for Easter.  She was a hard worker, up before anyone else and most of the time retiring after everyone else was already asleep.

She loved animals and found wonderful companionship with the family dogs Mustard, Fred the Red and her favorite, Bucky. She put up with homing pigeons, a wild dove with a broken leg, ducks, fish, parakeets, snakes, lizards and assorted other “livestock” that came to live at the house.

She served in many capacities on ward and stake levels, carving out time to carefully prepare lessons with their attendant materials, caring for her 'sisters' as a faithful visiting teacher and supporting her husband, Graham, in his callings.  She was a strong woman, providing never-ending nurturing to children with who had children who contracted a variety of illnesses, always providing a listening ear, a kind heart and wise counsel as her children grew up and faced the challenges and disappointments of life.  Her steady, quiet faith in the Lord provided a lifelong example as well as a bulwark of strength and support to her children, her husband and those around her.  She was a kind, gentle person.  Anyone who met her loved her for the sweet, innately good and genuine person she was.

She is survived by her sister, Anne Dougherty (Ted), Ricardo Trejo Garcias (Susan), Kathleen Westwood (Jim), Steve Hollingworth, Dave Hollingworth (Michelle), Liz Smith Shultz (John) and Esther Holum (Rod), as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be held at the Butler 3 ^rd building 2301 E Bengal Blvd, (7600 S.) Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121 , on Thursday June 1, 2017, at 11 AM. A viewing will be held for an hour before the service.  She will be interred at Holladay Memorial Park.
